Burger King pledges to stop ‘Whopper Virgins Syndrome’
By newsguy | December 14, 2008
There are very few places in the world uncorrupted by modern consumerism, but Burger King is out to change that, the Whopper in hand.
Burger King’s new commercials ‘The Whopper Virgins’, which are appearing on a television near you, are a parody of documentaries that explore foreign cultures. Instead of remarking and informing on these yet untouched peoples, this fast food giant intends to exploit these rural people for a buck. The fact that they lack many of the accommodations of American lifestyle and live on little food means nothing to this corporation; they seem them an advertisement, nothing more.
They send film crews out to villages in remote areas and pick villages, dressed in local attire, to do a taste test; the Whopper vs. the Big Mac. They of course pick Burger King’s product, why else would they be of any use. Then these guinea pig villagers appear on American televisions, the anomaly in the system.
Though Burger King defends these ads saying that they did in fact strive to respect the culture. But how can they say they respect the culture when they are promoting one of the leading causes of death in America, obesity. Like the colonizers of old, this fast food regime is spreading disease amongst a foreign people, giving them everything they don’t need to survive.
Burger King has stepped beyond the line of the ‘civilized’ world and seems intend on bringing American consumerism to all corners of the world. Also in promoting these people as ‘Whopper Virgins’ they mock the focus of these their lives and deem American values as the only one for the world.
America is a land of greasy foods, unknown additives and an endless craving for what big business says we should want. Now we are taking our miserable way of living to the rest of the world with Burger King leading the way.
Here watch it, if by miracle you have avoided it as yet:
