Pets feel our economic woes
By newsguy | November 23, 2008
Dogs are man’s best friends, cats their greatest companions. Birds and rodents, reptiles and amphibians are the pets that humans have grown to love and adore. But it seems our furry friends are only welcome when the economic climate is good.
As people find it harder and harder to keep money in the bank and maintain the lifestyles they have always know they can’t keep the pet they swore to love and protect. This is of course understandable as the family comes first to many people. However these animals are weathering a worse storm than their human counter parts.
As people spend less and less on the extra stuff, so goes the pet budget. Owners say they can no longer care for their furry friends. Some do the responsible thing and leave them at rescue centers. However, others just leave them behind. They move because their house was foreclosed on and they leave their pup in the backyard or their cat wondering on the streets. Others take their ex-pets far enough away that they can’t find their way home and just dump them there. There have been some extreme cases where people have even thrown their pets out of their cars as they drive.
Rescue centers are overflowing and turning away animals as more and more are left on their doorstep. So while the news covers human skimping on the luxury items in life, it’s the pets that feel the strongest hardship.

I have noticed that and it’s horrible what’s happening to them.
