By News Desk | September 16, 2008
Our furry friend might be at risk so take a second look out what brand you buying. If you are an avid buyer of pedigree you should know about this recall.
Salmonella was found in tested products of Pedigree dog food that was produced in Everson, Pennsylvania. This discovery has prompted an immediate and voluntary recall by this dog food giant. The recall is considered Class 1, the most serious; do to the deadly nature of this particular strand. The food was produced between February 18 and July 29.
Dog owners should keep a look out for food that was made under any of the following brand names: Country Acres, Retriever, Doggy Bag, Members Mark, Natural, Ol’ Roy, Special Kitty, Paws & Claws, Pedigree, Wegman’s, Pet Pride, PMI Nutrition and Red Flannel. Also look for the number “17” in the first two digits on the second line of the UPC code on purchased products, recommended a spokeswomen for the company.
So far no dogs have been harmed, and the company is anxious to keep it that way, for the safety of the dogs, the humans, and of course their companies reputation. The company said “Thankfully, there haven’t been any reports of pets being affected by our food in this recall; however, we feel we must take this action as a precautionary measure after we were alerted of a possible link between dry dog pet food produced at the Everson plant and two isolated cases of people infected by Salmonella Schwarzengrund.”
So take care dog owners. Pay attention and keep your dogs safe and healthy!!
