Karma
By News Desk | September 2, 2008
In the future there will be a car…one that will sever our strong tie to the pump. This car will break the mold for hybrids, marking a new age in transportation. The car of the future is dubbed “Karma”, and this future isn’t to far off.
Fisker, a new automotive company has made a revolutionary new car that combines look with efficiency. The spacious Karma will have 4 full sized seats and be powered by a new plug-in hybrid technology called The Q Drive which uses electricity alone for the first 50 miles then switch to its small gas engine for a quick “boost” to its batteries. According to Fisker the average commuter who drives about 50 miles a day “will only need to fuel the car but once a year.” But don’t worry if you’re the kind of person to go on long road trips, the karma will average about 100 mpg.
The question of charging the car always comes up, and Fisker has solved that one too. When you purchase the car you will have the option of a full size solar panel to be installed on the roof of your car (the panel will also cool the car while its parked) and on the roof of your house or garage that will store energy during the day and charge the car, even at night.
Karma will roll off the assembly lines next year, while in initial production the MSRP for one of these is about $80,000 but the final price is going to be determined when its released.
