By newsguy | August 27, 2008
Whirling winds, mighty thunder, and pounding rain; Florida has just begun to recover from Hurricane Fay’s vicious onslaught. With trees ripped from the ground, scattering the road, and power still unstable one can hardly imagine facing another storm so soon. But they just might have to; Gustav’s furious winds are bringing it ever closer.Gustav reach Haiti with winds in the upwards of 90 mph on Tuesday evening. Though its stay was brief it is responsible for the death of at least one person. This hurricane is growing in strength as it speeds across the war waters and on to Cuba. Forecasters say that Gustav will visit Cuba, leaving in its wake the devastating mess so common of big storms. From then it will make its way towards the Gulf of Mexico. It is this that has all of those residing in the U.S. in a panic. Oil prices and vicariously the common man’s gas prices are a topic of great concern for most. Our car is practically our best friend, among all of our intimate acquaintances this is the one that we both value and use the most. However, as these already high prices for fuel continue to increase then mass’s wallets are growing smaller and more worried. Which necessity will we give up, our car or our money? Gustav’s current path is leading towards our oil and eventually, though indirectly to our pocketbooks. Who knows the havoc that this hurricane could wreak upon the Gulf of Mexico, so who knows how high the prices will climb. The car driving American community can only sit, wait, and track the unpredictable moves of Gustav.
