36,453 People Rally on Facebook in Support of West Virginia Torture Victim Megan Williams
By newsguy | September 27, 2007

Megan Williams was tortured, raped and made to drink blood, toilet water and eat dog feces for a week.
Held in a West Virginia shed by six white males, Ms. Williams is lucky to be alive.
This is so horrific, and it happened over 2 weeks ago (Sept 12, 2007), and yet we at NewsTrain had never heard of it.
Some are saying the media buried this story, but members of the Social Networking site Facebook have a different agenda. Given the story about the Jena 6 case where six black teenagers are accused of beating a white classmate has been all over the news, we are starting to wonder if big media did cover this story up.
Or, maybe the American people just don’t want to hear about it.
What is important is that this is a horrible crime and people need to be made aware. According to a report by ABC News, Megan was not rescued until after a week, when an anonymous tip led the Big Creek, West Virginia sheriff to investigate the shed where she was being kept. For days, Megan fought for her life against a group of racist criminals.
The FBI is now looking into possible civil rights violations (what is there to look into), and this crime will likely be classified as a hate crime.
Here is the shed and trailer where this horrible ordeal took place.

What caught our attention, was the fact that these 36,000 plus Facebook Members have bonded together to create a group called “Students against the rape of Megan Williams and the media that ignores her”.
What big media may have missed, the online community picked up. 36,453 (and growing) to be exact.
Concerned individuals can learn more or join the Facebook group here.

Be Anglo,Hispanic or African American a crime is a crime this call it what U like is an atrocity against all so called civilized society It would be the cruellest of sins if these indivuals didn’t go unpunished. I would assume they consider themselves better than anything that isn’t Christian (lol) Anglo/Saxon If this is their idea of being better I’ll move in with the slugs any day

I truly want to thank God for saving her life that she will be able to tell her story. I feel the media chose the other story because it depicts young black males who assaulted a white class mate. Well, media what about the horrific things that were done to this young lady, not even an animal deserves this. It is amazing that all the media attention on Michael Vick for doing something that is done everyday but he was the wrong color of a human being to do it. This entire situation shows every one that the media is more concerned about young black males who might committ an act of violence but what about the ones who hung the nuses. All any one ask is that every one should be treated equal no matter what the color of their skin because there is only two places to go after this life is over you either chose Heaven or hell.

Someone’s retarded.
This was all over the news for the better part of two weeks.
September 29th, 2007 at 8:28 am
The media wasn’t silent on this issue. It was in several local papers. What do you expect?

I live in West Virginia and want to say that most of the people of this state are horrified and sickened by this nightmare. In spite of the remote nature of many parts of West Virginia and the fact that racial diversity here is lacking, the truth is that most people in Appalachia are neither racist nor inbred xenophobes…
and , just to point out the facts, this story was in heavy rotation on CNN for a couple of days…
I’m not saying its hasn’t been under-reported, because it certainly has, but it did get national exposure for a day or two…
September 29th, 2007 at 11:07 am
The problem is, you haven’t been reading the news. I heard plenty about this case off of CNN and Fox News. True, it hasn’t gotten as much coverage as really important stuff like OJ Simpson’s arrest or Britney Spears troubles, but what has?
September 29th, 2007 at 11:18 am
Typically I’m not one to side with the media, but I don’t think that this case is being ignored. I saw it on CNN, MSNBC and Fox news.

Perhaps you weren’t watching television in the past few weeks. It wasn’t covered-up by dig media. It was numerous television stations. Just because the media don’t go batshit crazy every time a crime is committed doesn’t mean that they are racist or that we must rally to support the victim. They reported the story, and moved on, just like we should do.
September 29th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
If this isn’t covered on the news, why was it on AP, BBC, NYTimes,CBS News,Fox News and others?

I’m originally from WV. When somebody told me what happened and that it was in WV, I said, “What part, Logan?” It’s been widely reported. It’s awful, but the collective consciousness moves on to the next news piece pretty quickly.

I just wanted to say that while I think what was done was absolutely terrible, the woman isn’t innocent in all of this either. This is the SECOND time that this has happened to her by the EXACT SAME people. Yet she still went back after the first time. She has a string of drug and fraudulent check charges. Judging by the reputation of the people and the town, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this wasn’t a hate crime…but a drug related crime.

so why the big fuss ? when the 5-6 black kids kidnaped and raped, killed and tourtured that white couple no news channel showed the story because the couple was white and the kids where black ! that’s your countrys problem.

I did not hear about this on any of the news outlets. I live in Louisiana I was informed of the incident through a forwarded email. I think only the local media where the incident occured is only reporting on this. However, this story should be national and even international. I just got the email yesterday and I could not sleep all night. My God Bless Megan and I hope that the 6 savages feel his wrath. Does anyone know how to send money to this Megan. Has anyone set up a support fund. Unlike the Jena Six situation, this is indeed attempted murder. If she would have not been rescued, they would of kept abusing her until she died or they killed her. My hear aches for that girl. No one could every recover from something like this.

Is this real??????????.
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:55 am
Why has this not gone world wide?. Media is always looking for a good story. Why does everyone think they are hiding it. Someone talk to me please.
October 3rd, 2007 at 1:12 am
The person (Asia) that made that statement is prejudiced. Why would you say that? The most prejudiced people in the world are Asia. Know your facts ass hole. This woman needs help. Why do the race card. She was harmed in a way that we would never know.
October 3rd, 2007 at 1:46 am
um yeah i saw this quite a few places online and on television. pay attention! it was reported. it wasnt quite as big as the jena 6 cause where was rev al sharpton and all his cohorts. you notice no one is causing a huge rally or march trying to free those fags. cause everyone knows this was a horrible atrocity that should never have happened to anyone. regardless of race or sex the people that can bring themselves to treat another human like this should be treated equally. (but not by me) DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOUD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU. ps- i like to lick
October 4th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
Americans are neither all dirty nor all white and for you to say that means you are a racist who just waits for things like this to come up so that you can do some bashing. I for one cannot imagine that a human being of any color could do this to another. It makes me ashamed to be human, not American. I saw it one the news several times. Al Sharpton and Jessie must have been busy with other things that day. Shame on you Asia for making such a blanket statement.
October 5th, 2007 at 1:20 am
Huh? Seeing as how this story was all over the news- and hence I already knew about it, I’m not understanding this spin on the story. People will join a group on facebook for anything.
I guess to be fair I will assume that the coverage has been lacking in some areas (not mine, and mine is a small southern city- less than 100,000)
What these people did is so sad and so disgusting. It’s really a shame to use Ms. Williams as a springboard for a (this time) invalid claim of media bias.
The only reason the Louisiana story has gotten so much attention is because the instigators have been hanging out there.

I don’t know you, but I love you so so so very much, Megan. It really broke my heart to hear your story, which had an extremely powerful & profound effect on me. Touched me to the core my soul. The Lord has truly saved you, I thank him so much for that. I believe with all my heart that he will keep you and he will keep you safe. I have prayed and will continue to pray for you and your family.
There is something about you, Megan, that is meant to survive, something so special that no one can ever take away - keep believing that and never ever lose hope. Your mother is a very smart, very strong woman, God bless both of your parents for their bravery and courage. Megan, heal and believe because your purpose is not finished yet. I will carry you in my heart.

I saw this on the front page of CNN.com from the day she was found. similar stuff had happened before with these people and this girl, and one of the guys was an on and off boyfriend of megan’s. it is really a messed up case, but it was NOT covered up…and as someone else said, what about the case of the young white couple carjacked by 4 black men and a black woman? the guy was pissed on, forced to watch his girlfriend raped, had his penis cut off, and was murdered as his girlfriend was forced to watch. they then mutilated the girl’s breasts, raped her, sodomized her, and poured cleaning chemicals into her mouth. this was totally random, and has not been covered as it should. i’m not biased. i believe that it’s the INDIVIDUAL that commits the crime, so why no coverage for this case, and why the racial implications? who gives a damn about the coverage? are you upset that YOU didn’t get to share in the emotional rush you get from a case like this before your friend?? are you the prosecutor for that area? what matters is that twisted people like this - who are not typical of their races, but occur in mankind - are caught and punished!
October 6th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
…by the way…it wasn’t 6 white men. it was 3 white men and 3 white women who participated in this case.

History is and has been, and America has no blind eye. Just seems to me that more racial hate crimes are being commited, and it’s scary.
Satrted with splurrs from Don Imus, which was disrespectful but not nearly as raw as the Jena6 or the lady in Houston with a funiture description of a sofa labled; Nigger-brown… It’s only a matter of time before the Klu Klux Klan appears within the public eye to be medialized.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:41 pm
When I first heard about what happen to Megan, that hurt me to my heart. It seems unreal for this to happen to a human, hell people don’t do that to animals. Everyone is carrying on about the story wasn’t published enough and there should be another march, but the story is out now so lets do something about it. I think they should take the racist white fucks to the hood and beat the hell out of them. They should be treated the same way they treated Megan, and maybe they would think twice before doing that shit again. They should get executed for doing that. I’m not racist because if six blacks did that to a white girl, I would feel the same way.

bring them down to florida we have a bunch of hungry gators!!!!!!!!!!

This makes me sick. I’m sure some fancy defense lawyer will try to put the blame on Megan Williams for going to that awful place. Let’s just hope the prosecutors do their homework & put great efforts into getting them all put in prison until they die, not just 20 years (apparently the prison systems consider 20 years to be “life”). If calling it a hate crime would make it more difficult to prosecute them, maybe the prosecutors should just make sure they have an exceptionally strong case for all the other charges. Obviously, their motivation was racist & cannot be excused but putting them in prison for the rest of their natural lives (all of them) should be the objective since they don’t have a death penalty. Besides, death would be too good for them. We can only hope that someday they are judged & punished by a much higher court.
October 25th, 2007 at 4:15 am
How very sad!
I would like to wrap my arms around Megan and let her know that not all whites are as hateful as her mental trailer-trash torturers.
I’m so grateful that she’s still alive and that the low-lifed criminals, that tortured her, have been exposed!
I agree with Megan… I hope they’re fried!
May they never get out to victimize anybody else.
Megan, you’re so very strong! My heart is with you!
