Daughters for Sale
By newsguy | September 24, 2007
Very few things shock me on the internet anymore. Even less shocks me about ‘religion’. It seems everyone on the planet has a different standpoint on God and religion.
But what I saw this morning kind of scares me. At first I thought it was a joke, but the more I read through the site, the more I really started to wonder if in fact it was not a joke.
From their website it appears this group of ‘concerned fathers’ are not joking in the least.
According to the website, they have:
“[Created a service for] those trying to make introductions for those following the Biblical tradition of arranging marriages for their daughters…”
Sounds innocent enough. Concerned Christian fathers, looking for good husbands for their sweet little daughters.
But then I started to read some of the ‘classifieds’ which listed a few things about the young girl, a photo, and - a price.
Most started over $20,000 and most of the ads I looked at were between the ages of 14-17. Here were a few that really kind of shocked me:
| Makayla S. Age: 15, Location: Midwest Bride Price: |
Makayla was named after her grandmother and takes after her in a lot of ways. She’s a traditional girl, a homebody who cooks like a chef and decorates like Martha Stewart. She also has a cheerful, upbeat outlook on life and spends a lot of time laughing. She says she is looking for a man with a sense of humor to take care of. | ![]() |
| Marissa J. Age: 16, Location: South Bride Price: |
Marissa likes to put on airs and thinks she’s better than all of us here and who knows maybe she’s right. She’s looking for a smart, sophisticated man who knows “art” and “culture” and “style” and who can understand her better than we can. | ![]() |
| Kimberly H. Age: 15, Location: South Bride Price: |
Kimberly was raised from birth knowing that her place in life was to be a good wife and mother and she might as well get started on that now. She knows God put her on Earth to serve her husband like it says in the Bible and we’ve made sure she knows exactly how to do that. | ![]() |
I really hope this is all a big joke. Some internet scam to get people to click on some ads or something.
I have read the Bible, and I didn’t read anything about listing your teenage daughters for sale on the Internet like used cars.

It’s not real. It’s a joke. The owner already announced it.

If this is real, it is beyond horrible. It seems as if they view their children as human livestock.

I hope it is REAL! Where else is a man supposed to goto to find if he wants a Virgin bride? Although most listed on the site aren’t, looks like some are and thats what I want to marry! Nothing else, you can have used wenches, I want to do the right thing and life is too short to wait.
